Requirements:

Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License

Must possess a valid High School Diploma or GED

Must not meet any of the disqualifiers as indicated in the employment application

Must pass a level 2 FDLE Criminal Background screening

Must have a general knowledge and ability of office procedures and the ability to display
professional etiquette.

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must be able to pass a typing test of a minimum of 35 wpm

Must be able to appropriately and professionally represent the Putnam County Sheriff's
Office and the Putnam County School District

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Plan, budget, develop itinerary and make travel arrangements to mobilize PAL mentees to community, outreach or fundraising events

Attend tournaments as a participating coach and mentor, when necessary

Obtain confidential and secured access to protected/confidential juvenile school records (Skyward)

Create and maintain participant files for the mentoring at-risk youth

Maintain confidential juvenile records including youth contracts, enrollment, and attendance of enrolled Mentees

Maintain records of all PAL activities

Prepare enrollment documentation, participant records and physicals

Must have a working knowledge of the JCPO Prevention Level II DCF License and maintain compliancy of participant records in accordance with said license

Identify and develop relationships with professionals who can function as consultants and sources of referral for youth and families

Attend PCSO PAL Board Meetings when designated by the PAL Director

Assist in programmatic planning and implementation in community based projects and events for mentees

Participate in interagency and intra-agency committees as approved and appointed by the PAL Director

Acquire knowledge of science based, proven effective prevention curriculum and prevention strategies utilized by the Juvenile Crime Prevention Office, with the purpose of understanding best practices used in working with at-risk youth. This includes adhering to the de-escalation, non-aggressive techniques in compliance with Prevention Level II DCF Licensure.

Visit each of the gyms as necessary

Prepare weekly mentoring report to the Directors of the Police Athletic League and JCPO

Mentor at-risk youth while either attending gym practice, in the learning center, or during planned learning events

Deliver Science-Based, proven effective curriculum to at-risk youth

Coach youth in health, proper form for boxing, weight-lifting, sparring, and overall physical fitness and diet

Contact sponsors for upcoming outreach and fundraising events

Perform maintenance and cleaning duties for all Police Athletic League equipment

Transport PCSO PAL youth members to and from tournaments, practices, fundraising and community events

Maintain and archive league photographs

Assist in coordinating summer camps to include sorting application, printing necessary forms, preparing sign-in sheets, securing lunches, directing activities, mentoring youth and equipment inventory

Conduct equipment inventory

Make necessary bank deposits

General Responsibilities:

Maintain working knowledge of and comply with all Putnam County Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures

Abide by safety protocols, which reduce the risk of injury and/or property damage and promote the same for the well-being of clients, staff, guests, and the general public. Adhere to OSHA standards and Florida Statutes addressing adults working with youth in Florida

Comply with policy and procedure for event reporting: Unusual Event Reports and Child Abuse Reporting

Maintain and submit to the PAL Director a monthly calendar (one month in advance) indicating the days and hours scheduled. If working outside the office, indicate the day, time and location of on-campus duties

Record and submit appropriate time sheets to be approved by the JCPO Program Director.

Show or wear proper identification at all times

Participate in staff meetings, professional development and training, as instructed and pursuant to the JCPO’s Prevention Level II Licensure by the Department of Children and Families

General Office Duties: answer the telephone, route calls, take written messages, deliver facsimiles, print applications/documentation, sign-in sheets, and perform filing and housekeeping as necessary

Perform other necessary tasks consistent with program goals, objectives and any other duties as assigned by the PAL Director or the JCPO Program Director

This is a part-time position. The salary for this position is $10.13 an hour. This position closes on May 31, 2015 at 5 pm.
