PAY RANGE: $60,000.00-81,000.00

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

 

This is a full-time position that reports to the Director of Administration or designee. The position performs advanced technical and professional work involving responsibility for the Sheriff’s Office Data Center and all remote Servers. Works independently with minimal supervision and may assist in training, scheduling and distributing work to other staff members, and managing other staff members.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Installation, configuration, and maintenance of all Sheriff’s Office servers.
  2. Updates Director on status of projects and technical issues.
  3. Resolves problems with hardware and software.
  4. Implements and maintains all host security policies.
  5. Maintains DNS, Proxy, Email, and other network related services.
  6. Initiate and maintain network authentication procedures and servers.
  7. Develop and maintain capacity planning systems and host event monitoring capabilities.
  8. Coordinate projects and investigate and recommend new technologies.
  9. Coordinate network changes with the Network Administrator.
  10. Exercises judgment and creativity in selecting and applying procedures correctly, and determines when to refer problems to the supervisor or the next level of support.
  11. Implement desktop support procedures and train desktop support staff as needed.
  12. May be required to assist with emergency support functions (ESF) in the EOC during emergencies or other related emergency duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

 

  1. Proficient in Linux, and Windows Server technologies.
  2. Proficient in Hyper-V, XEN-Center server technology
  3. Proficient in administering Active Directory and Group Policies.
  4. Proficient in Windows PowerShell and Bash scripting.
  5. Ability to administer Microsoft Exchange Server.
  6. Ability to administer Microsoft SQL Server and/or MySQL Server.
  7. Ability to administer public key infrastructure (PKI) and SSL certificates.
  8. Ability to administer Apache and Microsoft IIS web servers.
  9. Knowledge of networking technologies such as switching, routing and firewalls.
  10. Knowledge of tape backup systems and methodologies.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of three to five years in a system administration or support role.

 

(A comparable amount of training, education, or experience may be substituted for the above minimum qualifications.)

 

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS

 

  1. MCSE, RHCE, Cisco or Avaya (Nortel) certifications preferred.
  2. Ability to possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.

  2. Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
  3. Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid).
