Provides support to incarcerated individuals to address their social, emotional,
and behavioral needs. This position involves assisting in case management,
facilitating programs, conducting assessments and supporting rehabilitation
efforts under the supervision of the Health Services Administrator and
Programs Supervisor
DUTIES:
- Assist in the development and implementation of case plans for incarcerated individuals
- Provide guidance and support to individuals navigating personal, social or environmental challenges
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records
- Conduct preliminary assessments to identify social, emotional or mental health needs as it relates substance use disorder
- Collect and organize relevant data to assist licensed social workers or clinicians
- Assist in facilitating group sessions, workshops, or classes on topics such as: anger management, substance abuse and reentry preparation
- Support evidence-based programming tailored to the population's needs
- Advocate for individuals' needs within the facility and coordinate referrals to internal or external services
- Help connect individuals with resources related to housing, employment and education during incarceration and post-release
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including corrections staff, healthcare providers and community organizations
- Ensure all activities comply with facility policies, state regulations and ethical guidelines
- Respond to crises, providing de-escalation and emotional support as needed
- Report significant incidents to supervisors and document interventions accurately
- Maintain detailed records of all interactions, services provided and progress towards goals
- Prepare reports for supervisors when required
- Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling or similar field. Master's degree preferred
- Two-years experience in a Correctional or Mental health setting preferred
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and evidence-based interventions is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
- Speak and understand the English language
- Internal candidates must not be on probationary status
- Internal candidates must not have had punitive disciplinary action within the past 365 days
- Internal candidates must have completed applicable FTEP requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable Equivalency Diploma
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver license
- Must not meet any disqualifications as listed in the application
- Must successfully pass the entire pre-hire process:
- Selection from review board interview
- Sheriff interview
- Thorough FDLE based background investigation
- CVSA (Computerized Voice Stress Analyzer) - truth detection similar to a polygraph
- Medical exam with drug screening
- Psychological exam and interview
- Final Sheriff review and approval
- Vacation, sick and annual birthday leave
- Florida State Retirement (FRS) - if eligible
- Health, dental, vision, life and supplemental insurance available
- Direct Deposit required
- College tuition assistance may be available
- Annual salary $50,000 - not negotiable
